Archery lessons & instruction in Morgantown, WV

What it is

One-on-one instruction on our own indoor range, taught by people who shoot and who fit bows for a living. For a beginner that means starting at the beginning: how to stand, how to hold the bow without torquing it, where to anchor, and how to release without snatching. For an experienced shooter it usually means diagnosing one specific thing that has gone wrong.

Because it happens on the range, nothing is theoretical. You learn something, you shoot it, and you see immediately whether it worked.

Who it’s for

Complete beginners. The most common thing we hear is some version of “I do not want to look stupid.” Nobody here cares how you shoot on your first day, and a first lesson is mostly about finding out whether the equipment fits you, which is not something you can reasonably work out alone.

Parents and kids. Youth archery has a low barrier if the bow is right and a very high one if it is not — too much draw weight is the single most common reason a child decides they do not like archery. We will size it properly before anything else. If it goes well, the Youth 3D league on Friday nights is the natural next step.

Returning and struggling shooters. Target panic, a creeping anchor point, a release that has gone inconsistent, or groups that opened up for no obvious reason. Often the cause turns out to be equipment rather than form, which is why instruction and the tuning bench tend to work together here.

Crossbow shooters. Different discipline, same principles — and worth an hour if you are new to it, particularly around cocking consistency and holding a heavy rig steady.

What to expect

Call ahead so we can put time aside and make sure the range is not mid-league. Bring your own equipment if you have it, even if you suspect it is wrong; knowing what you already own tells us a lot. If you do not own anything yet, come anyway. We would much rather size you correctly before you buy than sell you a bow and fix the mismatch afterward.

Expect the first session to spend more time on setup and less on shooting than you might guess. That is deliberate — an hour spent getting draw length and poundage right saves a season of fighting the bow.

Practically, the advantage is that the shop, the bench and a 50-yard indoor range are all the same building: we can teach you something, adjust the bow to support it, and have you shoot it again ten minutes later, in January, with the wind irrelevant.
